Steel Grades

BILSTEIN ZE-Grades

BILSTEIN’s ZE-Grades are characterised by minimum yield strengths from 500 to 1,200 MPa and excellent cold formability. BILSTEIN ZE-Grades are used where the demand for component strength is highest and may be accompanied by a weight and cost advantage.

This grade family, which was developed by BILSTEIN, combines reliable cold-rolling and heat treatment strategies, which enable the manufacturing of precision rolled strip steels with continuously variable minimum yield strength properties between 500 and 1200 MPa.

Based on widely available, pearlite-reduced, microalloyed hot rolled strip steels, the BILSTEIN ZE-Grades are weldable with all current welding technologies. A decisive factor here is the low carbon equivalent (CE). Spot welding and laser welding have proved to be particularly suitable, with no observable decline in yield strength in the heat affected zones. Moreover, the high yield- to tensile strength ratio offers best preconditions for subsequent forming via the roll forming process.

Of course, BILSTEIN's ZE-Grades come with all the advantages of a cold rolled product:

Applications:
Automotive seat structures, automobile seatbelt components, airbag systems, transmission components, vehicle door and locking systems, slide rail systems, furniture hinges, connector plates for window profiles

Continuously variable minimum yield strength properties

A special feature of BILSTEIN's ZE-Grades, its continuously variable minimum yield strength properties, allow to customize the minimum yield strength values specific to the strip application.
